Experience the Magic of Redwoods Glowworms

Our Most Spectacular Addition Yet

Prepare to be enchanted by our newest attraction – a breathtakingly beautiful 70-metre eco cave with 1000s of real glowworms

A Marvel of Nature & Science

Deep within damp caves and shaded forests, these tiny creatures perform one of nature’s most magical light shows!

Glowworms are not worms at all, but the larvae of a small gnat. To attract prey, they produce a shimmering blue-green light from their tails — rather like the fireflies of summer nights.

Dangling silk threads, they create a starry night in miniature, for us, it feels like stepping into a fairytale. Yet for the glowworm, it is a clever and beautiful way to survive.

See them up close in our purpose-built eco-cave, day or night.

A Journey of Conservation & Beauty

We’ve collaborated with renowned Expedition Earth explorers Bridget Thackwray and Topher Richwhite to develop pioneering bio-integrative designs that ensure our glowworm residents flourish in a carefully-crafted habitat.

As you witness the glowworms magical luminescence up close, you’ll discover how these remarkable creatures contribute to the delicate balance of nature that surrounds us in the Redwoods Forest.

This awe-inspiring attraction offers a rare glimpse into the mesmerising world of New Zealand’s glowworms, and reminds us of the importance of our collective sustainability efforts.

Our mission has always been to provide unique and immersive experiences that celebrate the beauty and magic of the forest environment – and this extraordinary new attraction continues our legacy of innovation and eco-tourism excellence, building on the success of our world-renowned Treewalk and Nightlights experiences.

  • The Redwood Forest is just stunning... The lights are just incredible and it is such a beautiful thing to be walking so high in the trees. We also went back the next day and walked around the forest - still gorgeous. Would definitely recommend.

  • The Redwoods Altitude tree walk is beyond amazing! It was the highlight of our tiki tour of the North Island, and if you’re a wee bit terrified of heights, it was life changing. We felt so safe while being challenged well beyond our comfort zones. The guides are great, very encouraging.

  • "perfection" This experience was a true 10/10 for us. The perspective and views it offers of the grove are spectacular and unique. The actual bridge crossings and zip-lining very quickly went from potential impediments to accentuating the experience. Our guides, Jordan and Nicole, were the absolute best. If you were on the fence, go for this one. It's incredibly clear that the altitude team is there to make sure your experience will be like ours -- spectacularly unforgettable.
